Healthy Heartbeats Program
Healthy Heartbeats is a self empowerment based hypertension prevention program funded by the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. This program seeks to address the hypertension needs of minority individuals in the city of Baltimore. Activities provided through this program include community health events/fairs that helped identify community residents with high blood pressure; weekly weigh-ins, blood pressure monitoring, nutrition classes, and health assessments to its participants. The program encourages exercise, and provides an on-site exercise facility complete with treadmill, life cycles, and aerobics videos and classes.
